Getting Around

LA is a very attractive city, with her nice weather, beautiful beaches and various entertainments. But as for public transportation? It is terrible. How terrible is it? Let's take the route from my house(@Hacienda Heights)  to school for example. First choice--take subway. Ooops, I don't see any of it. Second choice--take train. Oh my god, how I go to the train station is even a bigger problem. Third choice--take bus. The nearest bus station from my house takes 25 minutes by walk,  plus the time waiting for the bus, transferring to several buses, and the actual transportation time, by the time I arrive school, the school is close! The only choice for me to go to school is driving. Unfortunately, I hate driving. The first thing I came to USA is learn how to drive. Yes, I never drive before and I am certainly not a person who enjoys such things. How I get my driver license is another story.

The public transportation system in my country is way too convenient comparing to that in LA. We have a subway system linking two main cities, amazing bus system taking people from mountain to sea, and high speed rail system connecting cities from north to south. People do drive in my country, but most of people prefer to use public transportation to commute. It takes me 1 minute to go to subway station and 3 minutes to bus station from my house, why bother to drive a car ?

I guess I am just too spoiled by my country's awesome public transportation system, so I can't get used to the living style in LA. Well, I will try harder to adapt myself to it, and please be patient if you happen to drive behind a gold Toyota Camry. I will be very appreciate : )

I've read and commented on Cindy and Sophia's journal
